About the Book

Hero was having a perfect day, flying through the heavens with the other angel dogs. Perfect, that is, until he asked the Shelter Angel, who watches over all the animals who are up for adoption, if he could go back to earth and become a shelter dog, too. After all, he thought, what could be better than having a very special person choose you, out of all the other dogs, to come home and be part of the family?

As Hero is about to discover, things don’t always turn out as you plan. Sometimes, they turn out better!

Animal shelters are overflowing with critters who are waiting for loving families to find them. Be a HERO—open your heart and home to a shelter animal.

About the Author

Christine Davis is the author and illustrator of five magical books for animal lovers—For Every Dog An Angel, For Every Cat An Angel, Forever Paws, The Shelter Dog and Old Dog and the Christmas Wish. The Shelter Dog is the author’s thank you for the wondrous day she found her dog, Jake, quietly sitting in an animal shelter. It was as if he was waiting for her. “Where will he sleep?” the paperwork asked. “Anywhere he wants to” she quickly wrote down. So, Jake took his place on her bed and in her heart. He lived longer than she could have ever hoped for…but not long enough.
